Optimization plans

You can use the optimization plan feature to automate the achievement of targets for groups of campaigns — portfolios.

The plan consists of a metric and an action period. As long as the optimization according to plan is enabled, the service will automatically change keyword bids based on the budget. Bids are calculated according to the rule that has shown a positive effect on goals. You can also set bid limits.

If the goal has changed, edit the plan settings, and the service will take the changes into account and adjust the events.

You can manage the plan settings and view the indicators in the summary report. The plan can be based on different event scenarios that manage bids for different types of campaigns:

Set up optimization according to plan

Before you start

To set up optimization according to plan, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Statistics.

  2. Open Summary report.

  3. Select grouping only by Portfolio.

  4. Select the line with the portfolio, then click Plan, and choose Assign plan.

  5. In the pop-up window, configure the plan settings.

    • Name: the name of the plan.

    • Start of period and End of period: the validity period of the plan.

    • Budget: the maximum budget within which the service will be able to change bids.

    • Select a metric and enter the target values.

  6. Go to theOptimization tab and configure the optimization settings.

    • Data window: the range over which changes in historical data will be taken into account.

    • Min bid: the limit the service won't go below when setting the bid.

    • Max bid: the limit the service won't go above when setting the bid.

  7. To start optimization according to the configured plan, enable theLaunch option and click OK.

You can only add one metric to the plan from analytical systems.

View plan indicators

To view the plan indicators, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Statistics.

  2. Open Summary report.

  3. Select grouping only by Portfolio.

  4. Select the period you want to view the data for.

  5. Click on the dates in the upper-left corner.

  6. In the pop-up window, specify the dates of the period. The dates must be within the validity period of the plan.

  7. Click Select.

    Don't enable the Compare option.

  8. Select the performance indicators of the plan. You can choose the indicators of the metric the plan is based on and the indicators of the Total expenses column.

  9. Hover over the column header and click on the arrow on the right side of the header.

  10. Select the indicators in the drop-down list.
